Janie Thompson brings unmatched dedication and expertise to every student she supports. She has over two decades of experience in education. She holds a master’s degree in special education and has served as both SPED teacher and district specialist for Williamson County Schools. Janie has continued her mission most recently by providing reading and math intervention services in both Williamson County Schools and Metro Nashville Public Schools.

Janie specializes in math and reading instruction, tailoring each lesson to match the way your child learns best. Her extensive background in special education allows her to simplify complex concepts and deliver them in clear, relatable ways, making learning not only accessible but empowering.

For reading intervention, Janie incorporates principles of the Orton-Gillingham Approach, a proven multi-sensory method designed to help struggling readers build strong literacy skills. This approach engages visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning pathways, making reading more intuitive and effective for students with diverse learning needs.

Her philosophy is simple: Math doesn’t have to be stressful. As an experienced elementary math tutor, Janie blends traditional strategies with creative, hands-on methods to help kids truly understand math, not just memorize it. She’s passionate about building confidence, strengthening skills, and showing students that learning can make sense, and even be fun.

Through thoughtful diagnostic assessments, Janie works closely with families to help determine each child's present academic levels in reading, spelling, written language, and math.  Her assessments identify strengths and challenges to guide personalized academic support. Her goal is to provide clarity, encouragement, and a plan to help every child grow with confidence and joy in learning.

Whether your child needs extra support or a boost in self-assurance, Janie is here to help them thrive in school and beyond.
